I’m pretty sure it will surprise no one who knows me well that I was enraptured by the documentary “Minimalism.” Blown away. So inspired. We watched it over the holidays, and almost immediately began purging our house of clutter. So far we’ve donated two full carloads to Goodwill! We’re pretty frugal and I wouldn’t say we’re anything like hoarders, but we realized that we felt trapped by clutter.
Over the course of three days, we paired our inspiration from the film with tips from my long-forgotten copy of Marie Kondo’s “The Magic Art of Tidying Up,” to purge, rearrange, dust, and fold the contents of every corner of our home.
As much as I relished our bare closets and tidy shelves, the best part was the feeling of lightness afterward. I didn’t anticipate how much mutual happiness it would bring us to set free all of that stuff that was taking up space, serving us no purpose, sparking no joy.
Our goal: a zero waste minimalist lifestyle.
Up next, I’ll share our results!
